Biomass Resource Study for a 20 MW power plant (2012)

Client: Tata Power

Study was designed to assess the availability of biomass in 50 km radius around the project site for a biomass based 20 MWe power plant. Tata Power was also interested to utilize the 500 acres of land available with it for energy plantation to strengthen the fuel supply. ITPI was assigned the task of carrying out detailed biomass survey in the region and suggest strategies for sustainable procurement and planting of biomass. The activities carried out by ITPI were biomass assessment from various sources in the region, assessment of the existing utilization pattern of biomass, assessment of the availability of biomass from these sources for power generation, selection of species and harvesting cycles for captive plantation, review of relevant government policies for biomass based power generation etc.
