Ecosystem for Offshore Wind Development in India (2013-2015)

The project expected to create a holistic understanding of the enabling environment required for the incubation and growth of the offshore wind sector in India and to help identify the national and state governments’ potential/best roles /actions in offshore wind development. The tasks performed by ITPI in association with its sister company ITPE Ltd. (formerly known as IT Power Consulting Ltd.), UK, were publishing a report titled ‘Status and prospects of the offshore wind sector in India’ covering global status of the offshore wind sector, highlighting UK’s experience, preliminary assessment of the potential in India, understanding gaps in skills, capabilities and capacities of domestic industry and institutions, forecasting investments and financing options and providing inputs to the GoI’s offshore wind policy that is being prepared by MNRE. Besides, ITPI also prepared ‘Roadmap for developing an offshore wind ecosystem in India’ and developed a web portal for offshore wind for widespread dissemination of knowledge in this sector viz. potential, technologies, manufacturing, project execution, power export, policies, among others.
