Pilot Implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer for Electricity (DBTE) to Agriculture in Punjab funded by the World Bank

The purpose of this project is to save groundwater and incentivize agricultural consumers through the Direct Benefit Transfer for Electricity (DBTE) scheme and help them earn money at the same time. Tasks under this assignment include (i) Providing support to Government of Punjab and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) in implementing the DBTE scheme on the selected feeders; (ii) Collection and analysis of relevant data from power, agriculture, ground water and revenue departments; (iii) Extensive stakeholder consultation including farmer outreach; (iv) Review of existing policies and schemes for establishing the energy-groundwater-agriculture linkages; and (v) Recommendations for design and delivery mechanism for scaling up of the DBTE scheme.
