David Fernandez – Principal Project Engineer

David Fernandez is a Principal Project Engineer with ITPEnergised based in Madrid Spain and is seconded to ITP India. He is a solar expert with 15 years of international experience in the energy sector. He has 2 bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering (Spain) and Mechatronics (Germany) and a Master Degree in the field of Energy Systems and Fluid dynamics (Spain).

 

David’s experience includes between others technical consultancy, due diligence, prototype review and technical supervision. His current technology expertise includes Concentrated Solar Power (CSP), Photovoltaics (PV), Energy Efficiency and Biogasification. He has been involved in due diligence projects undertaking full technical reviews of utility sized solar PV plants (UK), technical supervision of standalone PV Systems, technical reviews and site inspections of CSP prototypes (South Africa & Australia), developing of techno-economic decision tools for renewable energy projects (Ghana), feasibility studies for biogasification and solar projects (UK & Mozambique), renewable energy, batteries and energy efficiency trainings for the banking sector and other audiences (Lebanon, Belize, Mongolia, etc.).

 

Formerly he worked as a technical analyst in the wind energy sector designing, implementing and testing wind turbine control systems for the Kelvin Institute (Glasgow, United Kingdom). Furthermore he worked for in Germany for different PEM fuel cell companies (Daimler Chrysler and Xcellsis). He developed his Final Project at the Institute for Energy and Environment (University of Strathclyde) focused on the modelling of fuel cells and alkaline electrolysers.

He speaks English, German and Spanish fluently. His international project experience includes: Australia, Belize, Chile, Germany, Ghana, Jamaica, Lebanon, Mongolia, Mozambique, South Africa, Spain, St Helena and United Kingdom.
